About The Lecturer
Stan Reeves is a bitcoin security advisor and educator with more than five years of experience teaching, writing, and consulting on bitcoin, bitcoin custody, and bitcoin education. He is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Auburn University, where he developed and taught graduate and undergraduate courses on Bitcoin—among the first of their kind at a major research university. He is also the founder of Nakamoto Protocol, a bitcoin-backed lending and stablecoin startup in the concept stage. His prior work includes research and analysis for Sovryn, a bitcoin DeFi platform, and he has written for Bitcoin Magazine and other outlets on self-custody security, bitcoin adoption, and layer-2 protocols. Stan holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, an M.S. from Clemson University, and a B.S. from Clemson University (summa cum laude). He is the recipient of the 2017 William F. Walker Superior Teaching Award, the highest teaching honor in the Auburn University College of Engineering.
